Ever wondered what the committee gets up to? Here is a quick summary of our latest meeting.
- Diversity and Inclusion: Maria is our new D&I officer and she introduced the committee to what it is all about. The BTF has been very active and supportive. She highlighted that Sutton is 27% BAME and our club is probably well below that but we don’t actually track this at the moment. We discussed ways of encouraging more BAME members and other types of diversity. There might well be some questions about your characteristics when we do the membership renewal in April so this is a quick heads up as to why we are asking.
- Training time at Everyone Active for both Juniors and Seniors: We are still working hard with Everyone Active to agree more access to training space (especially swimming lanes) and better pricing. This is proving challenging at the moment but we are not giving up. Sharon is working really hard on this.
- Communicating with the club: We decided that we should keep our members better informed about what the committee is up to – hence this note!
- AGM Planning: Don’t forget this date 23rd November. This is your chance to find out even more about the club and hear about the amazing Iron Man efforts of Dave and Dan!
- Finances: Mike has drafted the accounts for this year. We have broken even. We haven’t spent as much as planned on training coaches (really important for our club in the future – need to do more next year) but we have spent on social events which has been great now that lockdown is over.
- Christmas Party: We discussed options for the Christmas party (10th Decmber) for adults. You’ll have seen the messages on WhatsApp. Surprisingly challenging to find an affordable option which will give us a great night. Annick is working hard on your behalf. Put the date in your diary and watch out for more details – it will be a great night!
- Photo policy for Juniors: An important and complex topic. We decided that it was too late to tackle at this meeting so will research the subject and pick up at the next meeting
